Modern Masters - Iron Paint Effect is a water-based acrylic, low VOC system for creating "real" tarnished iron effects. The paint itself contains a high concentration of real iron particles will tarnish naturally over time and when exposed to the elements. Rust Activator Effect can be applied speed up the oxidisation process to create a beautiful, authentic rust patina finish in minutes on any paintable surface. Once patinated with Rust Activator Effect we highly advise using Sealer Effect to seal the finish, following the instructions in the technical guide to achive the best possible effect. We recommend always sealing the finish if used in an exterior setting as rain can cause runoff of the rust finish onto surrounding areas.

Modern Masters - Iron Paint Effect can be brush, roll or spray applied and can be applied to any properly prepared surface, including metal, wood, drywall, plasterboard, plaster, paintable wall coverings, canvas or muslin. If the product is being used to paint a metal that is likely to rust or a wood that contains tannic acids then Modern Masters - Primer Effect is recommended as it is a specially formulated primer, designed to stop acids leaching into the paint and ruining the finish. If the finish is being applied to galvanised steel or aluminium we recommend using a primer such as Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 first before applying the Primer Effect on top.
