Modern Masters - Copper Paint Effect is a water-based acrylic, low VOC system for creating "real" tarnished copper effects. The paint itself contains a high concentration of copper and zinc particles will tarnish naturally over time and when exposed to the elements. Green Patina Effect or Blue Patina Effect can be applied speed up the oxidisation process to create a beautiful, authentic green or blue patina finish in minutes on any paintable surface. Once patinated with green or blue patina this finish does not need any protection as it will continue to oxidise gradually. If the surface is to be handled (i.e. handrails, etc.) and it requires protection we advise using Sealer Effect, following the instructions in the technical guide to achive the best possible effect.
Modern Masters - Copper Paint Effect can be brush, roll or spray applied and can be applied to any properly prepared surface, including metal, wood, drywall, plasterboard, plaster, paintable wall coverings, canvas or muslin. If the product is being used to paint a metal that is likely to rust or a wood that contains tannic acids then Modern Masters - Primer Effect is recommended as it is a specially formulated primer, designed to stop acids leaching into the paint and ruining the finish. If the finish is being applied to galvanised steel or aluminium we recommend using a primer such as Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 first before applying the Primer Effect on top.
