Kölner Instacoll Base is an adhesive agent for interior and exterior gilding of gold and silver leaf. It can be brushed or sprayed onto non-porous, or primed porous surfaces to create fantastic gilt finishes with a shine that exceeds anything you can do with an acrylic-based or oil-based size!

- Extended Working Time: Once dried the Instacoll Base can be made ready for gilding again by using Instacoll Activator, minimizing waste and saving you time from not reapplying gilding size!
- Dries Clear: This Instacoll Size is clear when it has finished drying so colours underneath will show through. Allowing you to put down a base colour of your choosing for your gilding, such as a black or blue for silver, or a red or yellow for the gold but this is just the usual colours used, feel free to let your imagination guide you!
- Unmatched Shine: The finish you get from Instacoll is close to a water-gilded one but much easier and quicker to apply! When properly applied and polished with an Instacoll tissue you can even make the lines between leaves varnish, leaving a truly seamless looking gilt finish!
- Suitable for Interior & Exterior Use: Instacoll has a proven track record of exterior usage, even on prestige projects like Winged Victory statue atop the Victory Column in Berlin.
Coverage: approx. 10m2 per litre
Instacoll Base can be applied with brush or spray equipment. After allowing to dry (for up to an hour), the Base is receptive for gilding for up to an hour. If the Instacoll Base dries completely then it can reactivate it with Instacoll Activator. Apply a thin and even layer of Instacoll Activator over the base and after a few minutes the surface is ready for gilding again. A surface can be reactivated many times using Instacoll Activator. It is important to only apply the leaf when the surface is dry. Always avoid getting Instacoll Activator onto the leaf itself.
