Sinopia Clay Bole - Classic Bardini Blue - 100ml

Sinopia Classic Bardini Blue Clay Bole is a premium, finely milled Kaolin clay designed specifically for traditional water gilding. Inspired by the colour of the walls of Stefano Bardini's art gallery who chose this blue for it's high contrast against the gold of gilded frames and white of marble. For gilders it makes for a high contrast base for gold, for emphasising any antiquing or distressing to be done to the gold or it can be used under silver to cool it down and bring out the cold undertones of the metal. Perfect for fine art gilding, frame restoration, and decorative work.

Application Tips

As with all clays, the Sinopia Clay Bole will need to be mixed with a hide glue, such as rabbit-skin glue before applying to the piece.

Please note, the Sinopia Clay Bole is thick out of the bottle and will need generous thinning with water until it reaches the consistency of cream. It is not recommend to mix the Sinopia Clay Bole directly with natural glues without first thinning the clay with water.
