Mecca Varnish consists of natural resins dissolved in an alcohol solution and is designed to be applied over a silver leaf in order to achieve a golden tone.
To apply, first finish your gilding with silver, including any burnishing or other final finishes to the gilding. Then apply the Mecca Varnish over the silver, either by brush or pad. Once the coat is completely dry you can apply another coat. Continue to apply coats until the desired finish is achieved. The drying time will vary depending on conditions, but it is recommend to allow at least 3 hours to dry at 20°C for the surface to fully dry.
The product can also be diluted with pure alcohol, it is also recommend to use this to clean out your tools after application.
Keep this product stored in a cool, dry place and away from light and heat.
