Meet Kölner Signcoll, a water‑based glue made for gold leaf. Using it you can create clean, shiny gilded letters, lines and drawings on motorbike tanks, shop windows, artworks, and wallpaper. It brushes on smoothly, works with pinstriping tools, and can even go in an airbrush. You can add a little water so it flows the way you like, depending on the brush you're using.

To use it with transfer leaf, brush on a thin coat and wait about 1 to 2 hours. To check if it’s ready, touch the sized area with a small piece of paper from your gold leaf booklet. If the paper doesn’t stick, it’s time to gild. Lay the transfer leaf onto the area, smooth the paper with your hand so the gold sticks, then peel the paper away. You have about 4 to 12 hours to apply the leaf after it’s ready. Once the gold has been laid all over, brush it over with a gilders mop to knock off the excess. When you’re done, wash up all tools used to apply the Signcoll with warm, soapy water.

Signcoll is best for small or medium designs indoors. If your project will be outside, protect it with a clear coat. For big outdoor jobs, try Kölner Instacoll for an unparalleled finish with a size that can be reactivated with Kolner Activator, prolonging your work time. It comes in 100 ml and 500 ml bottles. Keep the bottle closed in a cool, dry place, and unopened it lasts about one to two years.
