Kölner Miniatum - Clear - 500ml

Kolner Miniatum is a gilding size which creates high gloss gilding finishes on paper, vellum (degreased), leather and flexible surfaces such as plastic foils. The elastic nature of the size assures a long lasting gilded surface. Miniatum is especially important in the gilding of illuminated manuscripts, creating a bright, burnished gild but retaining the necessary flexibility not to peel from the pages when they are turned. The product is also used in the gilding of paintings and for calligraphy and for use on non-flexible surfaces.

With Miniatum you will be able to achieve high-gloss, mirror-like gilded finishes without the use of an agate burnisher. It can be applied by brush or drawing pen to the desired surface and then allowed to dry. Once dry, the transfer gold leaf is applied and lightly polished with the Instacoll tissue to create a gilt finish that rivals the brilliance of a mirror finish water-gilded item.

Please note: While this product is acrylic based it contains small traces of butyl carbitol, please ensure sufficient ventilation when working with Kölner Miniatum.
