Champagne is a fashionable shade of gold, made from an alloy of gold and palladium to create a unique colour of gold with very little risk of tarnishing that is suitable for use in exterior applications.
Genuine gold metal beaten incredibly finely to form gossamer thin sheets for gilding. This leaf is supplied as transfer leaf and each leaf of gold is pressed lightly to a piece of backing paper.
With gold leaf being so thin, its thickness is measured as the weight of the metal per thousand leaves. Heavier weight leaves will give more lustrous finishes and will weather for longer outdoors but are more expensive due to the increased amount of gold. We offer a variety of weights to suit all projects and budgets.
Our gold leaf is available in booklets of 5 leaves and 25 leaves, standard booklet size is 80 x 80mm, but some larger sizes may be available. Please check the individual items for details on the dimensions!
22.5ct Leaf will not tarnish in most applications. However, if the surface is to be handled or touched then it will need protection. We recommend sealing it with a high-quality sealer such as the Whitson's Universal Lacquer or Shellac Varnish, you can view our range of sealers here
