Imitation Gold Leaf

A cost-effective alternative to genuine gold

Imitation gold leaf is a brass alloy where the mixture of zinc and copper has been specifically controlled to create tones that closely mimic genuine gold leaf. Also known as Dutch metal, composition metal or Schlag metal.

Imitation gold leaf is well suited for a variety of interior applications where cost may be a factor and is particularly good for use on gilding entire walls or ceilings.

Any Imitation Gold Leaf will tarnish over time and will need to be protected by a clear varnish or lacquer - we recommend Kölner Leaf Protect.

When supplied in leaf format the thickness of the leaf is approximately 0.3 microns.
