Gel Stains are formulated with a combination of pigments, oils and urethanes to produce a beautiful 'hand-rubbed' finish - woodworkers love the lustrous finish that shows up when rubbing out the second and third coats. Gel Stains are heavy-bodied and do not penetrate as deeply into the wood as liquid, oil-based products do. Because of this, they are often less affected by the condition of the wood, helping you to achieve more even finishes even on difficult woods such as aspen or pine.
Surfaces treated with Gel Stain will require a top coat on areas that see heavy traffic. Leave the treated surface for a few days to allow the stain to cure before applying General Finishes HP Topcoat. Allow time for the Topcoat to cure before exposing the surface to wear.
